The Tourist Preview/Synopsis
December 10
Directed by BAFTA winner Florian Henckel von Donnermarck ( The Lives Of Others ) Starring Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton, Rufas Sewell, Steven Berkoff. Written by von Donnersmarck, Oscar winner Christopher McQuarrie and Julian Fellows. Cinematography by Oscar winner John Seal ( Cold Mountain, The English Patient ) Editing by Oscar winner Joe Hutshing ( JFK, Almost Famous ) and Patrica Rommel ( The Last Station ) Original music by multiple Oscar nominee James Newton Howard ( Michael Clayton, Defiance )
Frank (Depp) is an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise (Jolie) is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path in order to mislead all those following her former lover, Alexander Pearce, a criminal wanted in fourteen countries who has stolen money from a gangster (Berkoff) and is being pursued by an agent (Bettany). Against the breathtaking backdrop of Venice, Frank attempts to forge a potential romance but soon finds himself a target as he and Elise are caught in a whirlwind of intrigue and danger.
The movie follows the series of manipulations, as characters realise that they are merely pieces being played by an unseen mastermind of the game.
Rated PG-13 for violence and brief strong language.
Oscar chances ? Possibly in cinematography and art direction. I kind of see this more as a popcorn film for ardent Depp/Jolie hardcore fans.

About Me
- No Bad Movies
- Started to really pay attention to film ( movies ) what was going on in front of the camera, but more interestingly, behind it as well at about as far back as age 10. Motion pictures ( when good ) are a fascinating medium. All the work and prep that goes into filmmaking. It's an amazing process !
