March 21st to be exact. This time director Peter Jackson will be shooting in New Zealand instead of homeland Australia. Much of the cast members from the three Lord Of The Rings movies will have roles in The Hobbit as well, including Cate Blanchett, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Andy Serkis ( reprising his role as Gollum ) with new cast members Saorise Ronan, David Tennant and Martin Freeman ( portraying Bilbo Baggins. ) Leonard Nimoy has been cast to do the voice of the evil dragon Smaug.
The film which will be released in two parts and will be receiving a December, 21 2012 release date for part 1, with usual Peter Jackson cinematographer Andrew Lesnie handling the lensing duties.
