The Messenger Preview/Synopsis + Ben Foster interview
The Messenger Nov. 13
Directed by fairly newcomer Oren Moverman. Starring Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson, Samantha Morton, Jena Malone. Written by Moverman, Cinematography by Bobby Bukowksi ( Weeds, Arlington Road ) Editing by Alex Hall ( The Wire ) Original music by Nathan Larson ( Little Fish, The Woodsman )
The Messenger is the story of a Iraq soldier, Will Montgomery ( Foster ) that gets wounded in the field of battle, and is sent back home to the States to heal. When it comes to his last three months before his enlistment is to end, he gets assigned upon to serve in the Casualty Notification department, which is the serious task of informing relatives of soldiers that have been killed in action.
Montgomery is trained by and becomes close to fellow CN Tony Stone ( Harrelson ) During the process of Montgomery and Stone delivering their sad news, Montgomery breaks the utmost cardinal rule of Casulaty Notifaction, when he becomes romatically invloved with a former officers widow, Olivia Pitterson ( Morton ) therin, this is where a very big dilemma is formed and how they choose to deal with it.
Rated R for Sexual content and language. 107 min.
Oscar chances ? It one Best Screenplay at The Berlin Film Festival and Harrelson is said to be his best in years, so there could be a possibilty he could get a Support nod. And Samantha Morton is usually good too so maybe she may stand a chance as well.

About Me
- No Bad Movies
- Started to really pay attention to film ( movies ) what was going on in front of the camera, but more interestingly, behind it as well at about as far back as age 10. Motion pictures ( when good ) are a fascinating medium. All the work and prep that goes into filmmaking. It's an amazing process !
