Oct 23

Directed by Paul Weitz ( American Dreamz, About A Boy ) Starring John C. Reilly, Salma Hayek, Chris Massoglia, Willem Dafoe, Ken Watanabe, Jane Krakowski, Patrick Fugit, Orlando Jones, Josh Hutcherson, Frankie Faison, Ray Stevenson. Michael Munro ( Crash, Open Range ) Editing by Oscar nominee Leslie Jones ( The Thin Red Line, Punch-Drunk Love ) Original Music by Stephen Trask ( In Good Company, The Station Agent )

Film is based a the series of novels by Darren Shan, about a teen ( Shan ) that obtains tickets to an exclusive freak show, where after some time passes, meets a 200year old vampire Creplsey ( JCR ) that, in not so spoiler circumstances, gives Darren an offer that will be very hard for him to refuse.

Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense supernatural violence, disturbing images, thematic elements and language. 108 min.

Oscar chances ? Probably none, this looks more like a cult classic in waiting. It definitely has a impressive cast and Oscar nominated talent behind the camera, and with the premise based around a freak show, there are a a lot of interesting characters involved. May just turn out to be guilty pleasure fare, and that's OK too.

I have read the series of books. This should be good. Interesting casting. John C. Reilly is always good in everything he has been in.

Started to really pay attention to film ( movies ) what was going on in front of the camera, but more interestingly, behind it as well at about as far back as age 10. Motion pictures ( when good ) are a fascinating medium. All the work and prep that goes into filmmaking. It's an amazing process !
