Cameras started to role last week for Brad Pitt's upcoming baseball film, Moneyball.
The story, based from the book by the same name by Michael M. Miller and has been adapted by Aaron Sorkin and Steve Zaillian, is about Oakland A's General Manager
Billy Bean ( Pitt-pictured ) and his innovative way to develop a competitive team that has been operating with one of the lowest team payrolls in Major League baseball by using nontraditional methods of analysis called sabermetrics when scouting players.
Bennett Miller ( Capote ) is directing with Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Chris Pratt also cast. The film doesn't have a cinematographer listed on a crew sheet yet as original lenser Adam Kimmell ( Capote, Lars and The Real Girl ) was arrested in April and is having legal troubles due to a sexual assault charge against a minor he is dealing at this time. Someone obviously has the job because they have been shooting since July 12. No word on a release date yet but the project is looking at a 2011 release.
