After helming the acclaimed HBO film You Don't Know Jack about famed euthanasia activist Doctor Jack Kevorkian, director Barry Levinson might be reteaming with Al Pacino or even direct a biopic on rights activist Jack Healey. Now we can add another project to his future slate as Variety reports the Rain Man director will take on another real-life story with O.K.C. - a political thriller focusing on the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995. At the time, the event was the most destructive terrorist attack on U.S. soil until the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Story details ahead.
According to Wikipedia, the blast claimed 168 lives, including 19 children under the age of 6, injured more than 680 people, destroyed or damaged 324 buildings within a sixteen-block radius, destroyed or burned 86 cars, and shattered glass in 258 nearby buildings. The script for the film comes from writer Clay Wold, who took the story from his own brother, and follows a young legal clerk of bomber Timothy McVeigh's defense team who risks everything to expose a larger conspiracy in pursuit of the truth. This sounds like it could very well return Levinson to his better filmmaking with flicks like Good Morning Vietnam or even Wag the Dog.
Personally, I wouldn't waste a dime on a story about that piece of garbage Timothy McVeigh. But what do you guess people will see it.
