40 years ago this weekend, more than half a million young people arrived in upstate New York for 3 days of music. Many great and memorable performances that weekend, including a 2nd time ever playing in front of a live audience by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, an incendiary, explosive set but the young Carlos Santana Band, a radical set by The Who, where an angered Pete Townsend whacked Abbie Hoffman with his guitar and who can forget Jimi Hendrix performance of The Star Spangled Banner.
Legandary and memorable indeed.
