Director Gus Van Sant's Restless to hit Cannes
Renowned indie director Gus Van Sant (Milk, Good Will Hunting ) will be premiering his film next month at the Cannes film festival on May 12. The film stars Henry Hopper ( the late Dennis Hopper's son ) and Mia Wasikowska.
The story of a terminally ill teenage girl ( Wasikowska ) who falls for a boy ( Hopper ) who likes to attend funerals and their encounters with the ghost of a Japanese kamikaze pilot from WWII.
The film will go wide nationally in September. I'm looking forward to seeing it. It's a original and quirky premise and it's nice to see independent film still getting it's shot compared to all the remakes and reboots flooding Hollywood studios. Van Sant shot the film in Portland, Oregon on a modest 8 million dollar budget.
